In February, I received an email that appeared to originate from Evri, stating that I had a parcel delivery to pay for. Since I was expecting a package at the time, I followed the link and made the payment using my Monzo card. I realized that no money had been taken from my account, a fact which I attributed to a potential issue with my internet connection, deciding to attempt the payment again at a later time.

While commuting to my workplace, I was contacted via phone call by a man named Andy who introduced himself as an employee from Monzo’s fraud department. Andy was privy to my name and informed me about some dubious activities that had been noticed on my account. He inquired if I had encountered any phishing attempts lately, especially any masquerading as a delivery service.
