A public alert was posted by the Canton police on their Facebook page stating that a resident locally reported receiving a letter purporting to be the final notice for student loan consolidation opportunities.
This correspondence was dispatched by an counterfeit entity attempting to extract banking details along with other personal data.
The police urge anyone who finds a similar letter in their mail to contact their respective student loan company and discuss the authenticity of the correspondence.
