If you were enticed to enroll in a for-profit college that may have deceived you, you could qualify for for-profit student loan forgiveness programs like Borrower Defense to Repayment. Over recent years, more than $1 billion in student loan debt has been absolved for students who graduated from for-profit colleges or other institutions that might have misled them.
The foundations for student loan forgiveness encompass borrower defense to repayment claims, school closures, and other lawsuits.
The Biden Administration holds the record for forgiving the most student loan debt of any administration, with several new announcements aiding over 200,000 borrowers.
Nonetheless, determining if you qualify for loan forgiveness can be tricky. Below is a compendium of colleges that are eligible for student loan forgiveness under borrower defence to repayment, the recent Sweet v. Cardona settlement, or other loan abrogation agreements with the Department of Education. Refer to this guide on How To Get Help For Your Loans If You Were Defrauded By Your College for extra assistance.
Editor’s Note: This article has been modified to emphasize that not all schools on this list are for-profit institutions. Some schools may have transitioned from a for-profit status to a non-profit one.

List of Institutions Eligible for Borrower Defence Student Loan Forgiveness
Over 155 educational institutions possibly qualify for student loan forgiveness under several schemes and settlements – the most up-to-date being the proposed settlement of Sweet v. Cardona. However, several of the “owner” names do not coincide with their respective college names. Hence we will add the individual school names here eventually.
Note: Despite the college you attended, not all students will qualify. You must still meet the requirements for either borrower defense or closed school discharge. Yet, for certain schools, all borrowers will be eligible.
For instance, Corinthian Colleges settled, but the actual school names are Everest, WyoTech, and others. As a result, borrowers might be confused about qualifying for certain programs.
In the following list, we document the parent company name followed by the names of the associated schools. Some of these institutions may have transitioned from a for-profit status to a non-profit one.
Disclaimer: Several institutions on this catalog were formerly for-profit schools, and have since transitioned to non-profit status. They may have also been managed by different parent companies or been known by other names initially. Institutions now considered non-profit are marked with an asterisk (*).
