# Scam Cost Toronto Women Over $1 Million in Construction Fraud

A 75-year-old Toronto woman fell prey to a construction fraud scam, losing more than $1 million, leading to the arrest of three men.

It is said that the woman engaged a contractor to conduct home renovations in her home located at Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave. W. However, she became a victim of fraud.

The widespread scam didn’t stop there. Through a thorough investigation spanning from February 2011 to October 2022, it was discovered that 14 more victims in the Greater Toronto Area had been defrauded of over $400,000 collectively. Amongst the victims were five elderly individuals.

The men charged in relation to this case are Antonio Sinopoli, 54; Wayne McNeil, 45, and Francesco Sinopoli, 27. Antonio faces charges of two counts of fraud over $5,000, possession of crime proceeds, and laundering of these proceeds. Rest both, Wayne and Francesco, were slapped with two counts of fraud over $5,000.
