Welcome to Thursday’s highlights. I’m Gretchen Parsons, here to guide you through our latest news.

I wish you a pleasant morning. We kick-start our day with an engaging and cost-free event slotted for this weekend in Nampa. We’ll also delve into a scam that’s targeting small business operators.

Kicking It Off Today

Weekend Food Trucks Galore in Nampa

Perfect conditions await you this Saturday with weather expected to be sunny and a cool 60 degrees, ideal for indulging in some food and drinks outdoors with your furry friend!

The Nampa City authorities are hosting a food truck rally aimed at supporting the city’s dog parks at Lloyd Square Park, scheduled from 2-6 p.m. this Saturday.

Entrance is free and attendees can expect to be entertained with live music, enjoy some refreshing beer, visit over 20 pet vendor booths, and sample food from a selection of trucks: The BBQ Guy, World’s Best Corndogs, Coned Pizza, Fly Food Truck, Darjeeling MoMo, Stella’s Ice Cream, Holyoly O’s, B’s Lemonade, and The Good Cup.

Proceeds from the event will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Amity Dog Park and the soon-to-open Huckleberry Dog Park, set to launch in June. The forthcoming Huckleberry Dog Park, a nine-acre space, is located on Smith Ave, nestled between Midway Road and Middleton Road.

Return of Movies at Caldwell Drive-In Next Month

A harbinger of the approaching warm season…Caldwell’s drive-in cinema has signaled its opening date.

As initially reported by Lite Online, the Terrace Drive-In Theatre is set to welcome back movie enthusiasts under the stars from Friday, April 12.

Tiki’s Shaved Ice Bar, a new addition this year, will be offering a variety of refreshments at the cinema. Tiki’s offers an enticing selection of 32 flavored shaved ices, as well as beer, wine, and champagne slushies. The theater’s regular concession stand will also make a comeback.

The Terrace Drive-In imposes a $10 entrance fee for adults, $4 for children aged 4-11, and $7 for seniors. The opening weekend’s movie line-up is still under wraps.

Among the Treasure Valley’s two drive-in movie theaters are the Terrace Drive-In located in Caldwell and Parma Motor-Vu Drive-In in Parma. The former has yet to declare its opening date, but watch this space on its social media.

Fraud Alert: PPP Loan Scheme

The Idaho Department of Finance has raised concerns about a fraudulent scheme aimed at defrauding small business owners.

The imposter, claiming to be a law enforcement official, contacts Idaho’s small business owners alleging that they are under investigation for PPP loan fraud. The scammer goes to the extent of dispatching forged court documents asserting that an arrest warrant has been issued in the owner’s name, demanding payment via cryptocurrency to avert imprisonment.

The swindling method may seem novel, but the tactics employed are not. Law enforcement officials will never ask you to transfer or wire funds electronically. Individuals are encouraged to get in touch with the agency that the caller claimed to represent for identity confirmation.

Victims of this scam are urged to file a complaint with the FCC via this link.
